The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools from the Government to help children do their very best at school, supporting specific children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. The allocation is based upon the number of pupils from low income families who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals or have been eligible over the last six years. It also includes pupils who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. The funding is provided for the specific purpose of increasing the attainment and progress of these groups of pupils.
We are using the funding to address barriers to learning, e.g. deprivation, attendance issues and lower than average ability on arrival in Reception by:
- provide additional Teacher Assistant support to pupils through intervention programmes, 1-1 support, and support in class
- enrich the curriculum with educational visits/visitors and by providing additional resources in classes to enhance the learning experiences for our children.
- provide nurture groups
- provide additional resources to learn with in school
Please see the above strategy statement for additional information.
