Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to help reduce the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. Schools receive this funding for pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), children who have been eligible in the past six years, looked-after children, previously looked-after children, and children of service families.

Our aim at Sharneyford Primary School is to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background or need, receive high‑quality teaching and the right support to achieve their full potential. If you have any queries please contact the Headteacher Mrs Sarah Smith at head@sharneyford.lancs.sch.uk

Free School Meals – Holiday Support Update (May 2026)

What’s changed?

From April 2026, the Government introduced a new Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), replacing the previous Household Support Fund.

As part of this change, Lancashire County Council free school meal food vouchers via schools are no longer provided during school holidays. The vouchers made available through the Wand system to access HAF activities will still available during the Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays.

Why have holiday food vouchers ended?

The new Crisis and Resilience Fund has been designed to offer a more flexible and long-term approach to support, rather than providing set vouchers.

What is the Crisis and Resilience Fund?

Instead of fixed support like vouchers, the CRF focuses on:

  • Supporting families facing urgent financial difficulties

  • Helping people achieve longer-term stability and resilience

  • Preventing repeat financial hardship

  • Assisting with sudden or unexpected changes in circumstances

What is the aim of this new approach?

The fund is designed to:

  • Provide help when it’s needed most

  • Support families to regain financial stability

  • Reduce the risk of future financial difficulties

  • Offer support that is tailored to individual circumstances

  • Combine immediate help with longer-term support

When will the fund be available?

The Crisis and Resilience Fund will be available locally from late June 2026.

Residents will be able to check availability and apply via:

https://www.rossendale.gov.uk/benefits-1/crisis-and-resilience-fund/2

If you are struggling financially, other help is still available.

You can access support through our Cost-of-Living support page, which includes:

  • Emergency food provision

  • Food clubs

  • Advice and guidance services

  • Local support to help manage and stabilise finances
